    Anyone train barefoot?

I did some deadlifts without shoes today and I can say that it's probably the best I've ever felt doing the lift. I noticed a few things:

First, the stability is greatly improved without shoes. Throughout the lift I felt like the weight was properly distributed and that I was applying force correctly. For a long time I've felt that I didn't dig into the floor with my heels, but now I've come to think that shoes were the main problem.

Second, lifting without shoes gives your feet and lower legs some work during the lift. Right now I feel muscles in my feet and ankles that I've never felt before. I also think that it helps improve ankle flexibility.

I'm done deadlifting with shoes and want to try squatting without shoes as well. There's really no comparison between the feel of doing these with and without shoes.

I lift in my basement so I do not wear shoes. I have mats down and what not so I'm standing on hard concrete. I can't remember what I feels like to lift with shoes on. I only rock shoes if I'm doing the elliptical.

I do most of my lifts with socks. My gym's floor is a bit too nasty for barefoot.

No gym for home, work out floor with 30, but is it for 20 like 30 lb when you no lift it to be for men, for 30 lbs instead? or half is 10 for 20 pounds?

When I lifted at the gym I wore shoes.
The lifts feel the same to me, with or without shoes.

I lift at home in the garage and always wear shoes(i take them off to do GHR). I dont care for the feel of shoeless, and dont notice much of a difference. I wear a 13EEEE so im stable regardless

What type of shoes do you lift in? I know Chuck Taylor's are said to mimic the feel of barefoot training because of the incompressible sole.

Any shoe with a compressible sole though, that's taking away stability and power every time you lift. I had no idea how different it was until I tried it.

New balance FTW. They are the only shoe that advertises plus sizes in width. I used to wear adidas before they started marketing to rabbit feet. Chuck Taylors...wahahhaha. I couldnt put my foot in a Chuck T if i tried. Big footed bastards choose new balance.

My shoe size is 13 4E and I only wear my Vibrams now. I don't like the way most shoes make me feel like I'm slipping around. I used to get very unstable and had a lot of lower leg (ankle, shin, knee) problems but these Vibrams force your body to balance itself naturally in all situations so my knees feel very stabalized, ankles have more flexability, and I am able to cup the arches of my feet around my opponent's hips/legs much better than before (I do BJJ and it helps control the other guy).

I love these things and wear them everywhere. People think they look interesting and I keep getting stopped by people asking about them - I swear I should really be a spokesperson for Vibram (collect a commission )!
