    Cramps all over....

Recently I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis & I am on medication for that, it's a neuro-muscular disorder, the medication is for lifetime.

Now, one of the sides of the med is cramps....I lifted after around a months & I am getting wicked cramps! & I was off creatine or any other supp during that off lifting period. Muscular twitching is also one of the sides, but I get it only when I take the 1st dose of the day.

So I wanted to know what can I do to counter the cramps...I mean other than increased water intake & minerals (Hydrating Salts).

I get cramps when I am on Creatine mono, so i guess it's bye bye to that supp, however I do very well on kre-alkaline, almost no cramps.

This medicine, dosage is 60mg three times a day at an interval of 5 Hrs.

Here the link to Myasthenia Gravis & the med, in case any one wants to read it up,

I know nothing about your condition and I'm not going to look it up for 30 mins to give you an amateur diagnosis and help because I'm not experienced in this area, but my friend used to get many cramps when we played football unless he hate 3 bananas before each match. Now I know it's a different cause of the cramps but either way the potassium in there helps with cramps for sure, maybe you can give it a shot.

Potassium was going to be my suggestion as well. Also, epsom salt baths are wonderful - some of the magnesium absorbs in through the skin.
Wondering where to start? Confused? "Homework 1" will get you started.

Think you're ready for the "next step"? Take this test.

    It's called Pyridostigmine

Pyridostigmine bromide has been FDA approved for military use during combat situations as an agent to be given prior to exposure to the nerve agent Soman in order to increase survival.

    Interesting, what ya say?

For all who suggested potassium, actually I have been looking into it & came across this at wiki,

"Potassium salts are also available in tablets or capsules, which for therapeutic purposes are formulated to allow potassium to leach slowly out of a matrix, as very high concentrations of potassium ion (which might occur next to a solid tablet of potassium chloride) can kill tissue, and cause injury to the gastric or intestinal mucosa. For this reason, non-prescription supplement potassium pills are limited by law in the U.S. to only 99 mg of potassium."

By best option seem to switch to potassium chloride based table salt instead of common salt.

I will try to find that salt...

Oh, and btw I altered my medication timing with respect to my workout timing, this med requires 2-3 hrs to hit peak plasma levels, so I take my last dose juuust before workout, by the time it hits plasma peak I am done with my workout & thus reduced cramping.
