    Wink Kettlebell Training!

    Holy shit!

Ok, today was my first day and read above.

My first question and snag I ran into while doing cleans, snatches, anything where the kettlebell lands on the wrist near or at the end of these movements.

How do I do these movements without the bell landing and hitting my posterior wrists?

A fellow kettler told me to either use my hand as a brake or twist it? I tried the hand brake method and it worked, but during higher reps I ended up forgetting from time to time. Again, its my first day so perhaps its just routine, but maybe I can get another pointer...?

What did you think? I'm picking up some fitness rings and kettle bells tomorrow. Got some Christmas money from the In-laws to burn. I'm thinking a 10lb, 20lb and 30lber. I found a cheap local dealer on Craigslist. I think its going to cost me 72$ for all 3. Fitness rings are 40$ though.

I just don't teach those exercises (cleans and snatches). People kept complaining about their wrist/forearms and to tell you the truth, the swing gives you the hip snap that you need and are looking for. So, just hammer the heck out of swings and call it a day. We also do - get ups, bottoms up presses, t-spine arm-bars, tall kneeling alternating presses.

I picked up 3 kettle bells last night. I got a 10, 20 and 30lber. I can't wait to try them out. The gentleman that sold them to me demonstrated a couple exercises to do with them. The two handed swing and the turkish get up. He said to do them for time and not reps and sets. i.e Do the swings for 5minutes.

The guy who told you to do the swing for 5min. is clearly stupid and doesn't understand exercise.

I did some research and found that you can do them for time or for reps. I guess both ways are beneficial in different ways. What would you suggest for a typical kettle bell workout?

That they do. My forearms have lumps. I noticed on some videos, people have specific wrist guards for KB training.

I have been loving the turkish get ups and windmills, but the last 3 you mentioned I am unfamiliar with.

We don't do kettlebell workouts. They are just part of the program...

get ups are in the warm up

our power exercise may be KB swings...unless the person can do an olympic lift variation

if we condition, sometimes we will do 20sec of swing followed by rest or 20sec swing followed by a plank variation to create bracing under a period of fatigue, followed by rest and repeat. We don't do swings for 5min. straight.
