if i'm trying to lean out i will not take in carbs at all, but waiting to eat or drink a shake i do not believe that matters. you're still going to be "burning cals" from the cardio. now doing cardio at night will cause EPOC to be higher than in the morning but still, at the end of the day it's how many cals in and how many burned up that matters.

Right away. The best time to consume food is right around your workout. It is one of the best times to consume carbohydrate too. Your muscles are far more insulin sensitive, and your body is primed to synthesize glycogen more than ever post workout.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

Unless, of course, you're pushing heavy volume/time, in which case you should eat/drink during....and then more after!
