some leg exercises are harder though? as they tend to require a lot of weight? which deadlift variation requires LEAST weight?

is it possible to do an effective workout to build muscle with just dumbbells?

do step ups exercise the hamstrings sufficiently?
Yes you're right, leg exercises will be harder because your legs can handle more weight of course since they are bigger muscles. Personally I don't know what I'd do without a squat rack, but there are other ways to train your legs using dumbbells like lunges, etc.

yeah in fairness im not TOO bothered about my legs but i know that doing weights for them promotes growth all over because of the release of growth hormone and testosterone, dumbbell squats are fine can do them its more for hamstrings?

Would be more difficult for legs, but still possible.
A lot of people believe DBs are superior to BBs. DBs are really starting to win me over. ROM is generally increased and there's even more stabilizing going on.

So can you recommend what exercises are effective for hamstrings with dumbbells without having to use ridiculous weighted dumbells? Which deadlift variation targets the hamstrings well but uses the least weight?

one leg rdl's sounds like a good plan! although im not as focused on lower body as i am top i dont want to neglect it totally
