If you're preparing to hit your hardest lift of the week, whether it's deads, squats, whatever... what's the one song that gets you pumped up the most to destroy whatever weight is in front of you?

Didn't we do this recently?

Every six months for the last 6 years or so.

Whatever, I'll play along!
I don't listen to music during workouts...well, the gym plays radio, but that's not what I listen to normally...
On my days off work on the weekend I train Saturdays on week and Friday/Sunday the other week (I have a flex day every second Friday...gotta love working for the government!). On those days I'll kick back in the morning/early afternoon before heading downtown to my gym and listen to music for an hour and a half or so. What I listen to varies, but my favourite albums to listen to before training is...
On the metal side:
-Metallica: Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All (Kill Em' All is okay, but I prefer more progressive thrash to just constant, boring blast beats)
-Megadeth: Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? Rust In Peace; also, am actually really loving the aggression of their new album Endgame
-Exodus: Fabulous Disaster; Pleasures of the Flesh
-Overkill: Under the Influence; Horrorscope
-Testament: The New Order; Practice What You Preach (all-time fav metal album); The Formation of Damnation (amazing new, old-school thrash with modern production)
-Anthrax: Persistance of Time
-Dark Angel: Time Does Not Heal
-Judas Priest: ANYTHING
-Motorhead: ANYTHING
-Accept: Fast as a Shark
-Helloween: Walls of Jericho
-Motley Crue: Shout at the Devil (their one all-out metal album)
..for hard rock
-AC/DC: ANYTHING
-KISS: ANYTHING
-Zeppelin: anything except for the III (though I like that album in the summer) and "in through..." (too mellow...)
-all sorts of hard classics from bands like Queen, Bad Company, Thin Lizzy, etc
..just plain rock'n'roll..
-Rolling Stones: anything 70s...love Exile on Main St the most
-maybe some Mott the Hoople..stuff like that....though before the gym I usually only listen to this kinda stuff if it's sunny and warm..in the summer I listen less to metal and more to upbeat early 70s rock'n'roll...fits the atmosphere better, I find

OH fuck! How could I forget the all-mighty DIO!!!
RIDE THE TIYGAAHHH!! YOU CAN SEE HIS STRIPES BUT YOU KNOW HES CLEEAAANN-AHH!
Kinda has a James Hetfield thing going on. Wait, that album is '82. So, I guess Hetfield has a Dio thing going on. Love on the new(ish) album on All Nightmare Long..I think James did his most profound AHHH sound where he goes "BUT YOUR LUCK RUNS OUT-TAAAAHHHHH!!!!"
HAHAHAHA!!! Oh James.

Phineas i think i love you.
If you're ever in Wales, you will love my gym as you just described the typical playlist. Gyms owned by metalheads are the best gyms.

Easily my favourite performance by Megadeth. It's videos like this that make me really pissed off that Megadeth wasn't bigger than they were. I love Metallica, but Megadeth was usually just as good, only in different ways. The only album of theirs that wasn't on par with Metallica (in the early days) was So Far So Good So What. Rust In Peace was just as good as Master, IMO.

Megadeth playing the Duke Nukem video game theme!

i actually prefer silence, i draw more strength from that.
Sometimes the truth can rape your entire belief system.

Tunes absolutely suck in my gym. Mostly some kind of club shit for the fatass treadmill tards. An MP3 player is a must with some kick ass metal.

I've had the same set of metal songs on my walkman / cd player / ipod since the mid 90s. Metallica / KISS / Judas Priest, etc.
On a friend's recommendation, I added a bunch of Accept (BALLS TO THE WALL... !) last year.
In fact I've been dying for some new music. I check iTunes for new albums all the time. I've been cruising very desperately for 2 yrs now looking for music I'd want to do a posing routine to. Where do I keep ending back at? 80s - early 90s metal. On my last quest thru iTunes I ended up loading some of the less ghey Scorpions (OMG did they beat the "Power Ballad" to death...), some more Judas Priest, a little Sabbath, a couple classic Iron Maiden and a A LOT of Dio. I didnt' realize just how much Dio until I got thru a full intense chest + tri workout w/ enough to get me thru cardio.

This song gets me amped! It's like injecting Beta-Alanine and NeoVar at the same time.
