Best basic exercises for back
I understand that back is a more complex set of muscles, and I learned from Gopro that we need to do more types of exercises in order to hit back thoroughly. But now if I have to choose just 1 or 2 basic exercises to do for back, what are the most effective ones to do in this situation?
The reason I ask this is because I'm starting on HST, and per session I believe I should only do 1 exercise per body part (2 sets), which means I cannot do all the exercises necessary to hit the back thoroughly in 1 session, instead I have to choose only 1, and of course I want to choose the most effective to do. I am thinking of deadlift, but it seems that deadlift targets more on lower back (plus legs, glutes, etc), not back in general. Am I not correct here? - Josh |

For upper back do vertical rows and horizontal rows.
You don't need deads at all.

The best exercises for Back have to be the compound movements i.e. Pullups - Bent over Barbell Rows - Deadlifts !!!!!
