What type of stance do you use and why?

Conventional. Mostly for control of the bar and that's what I'm used to. Don't much care for the closer grip of the sumo style.

summo make feel like your going to shit on yourself
both methods are valuable, one is not better then the other. I`ve done them both for years, and quite frankly prefer sumo`s. Probably been doing them longer then the above participant`s and its so eloquent and impressive response has been on this planet.

For whatever reason, i feel like i drive with my legs better with the sumo rather than conventional. I did conventional for a couple months but as soon as i started going a little heavier I kept rounding back. I switched to sumo and my form has improved a lot. Most people say you are able to pull more sumo because of the shortened range, but for me I can pull the same amount of weight conventional as sumo. My forms just much better with sumo...
My stance width is difficult to categorize. My knees are just outside my arms. So its halfway between conventional and sumo. It suits me.
There is one more thing to consider in conventional DL - where your toe points. The general advice is to point ones toes straight ahead in conventional DL. But I ve seen Konstantinovs DL with very narrow stance and toes flared out. Has anyone tried it?

I use a modified sumo stance, it isn't super wide, but it definitely isn't conventional.
I like it mainly because it feels way better on my back. I have odd proportions and with the conventional stance I can never get in a position that feels right. I can also move way more weight with a sumo stance, another big plus.
I prefer conventional myself, for no other reason than that's how I first learned(comfort zone). I do occasionally rotate in sumo & elevated (2") box deads to mix things up a bit.
