$500 a good buy for York Home Universal Gym?

    $500 from kijiji.

    couple 45's
    couple 35's
    couple 25's

enough weights for now (been out of gym for over year).
Just got sick of going to gym. I like the idea of working out at home now.....more freedom + endless grunting, heavy breathing, making stupid faces etc.... some things I think would be beneficial letting loose on.

Not looking to go all out ripped (never really got there, but I tried). Just enough basic movements to stay in shape. Bench, squats, deads, overheads, curls, pullups, leg curls, lat pulldowns, etc.

The differences I see between the two is that the first one you posted seems newer and in slightly better shape however the second one has an option to adjust bench to decline position which I think is important so I'd go with the second one. I really think that $500 is a bit much for a used gym of that sort. If I were in your shoes I'd visit a store and buy a few used items separately. Get a standard bench press, olympic bar, some weights and a rack. This way you can do pull-ups, chins, squats and many more significant lifts. You really don't need a leg curl and all that cable stuff.

searched around.....for weights I need it's $150, another $150 for bench. Then I need olympic bar and rack.....which would be over $500 easily.

thinking about getting a power rack, but I don't think it's gonna fit in my basement room.

The 2nd one looks a little better. I would seriously look into a used power rack/adjustable bench & go from there. Watch local garage sales, craigslist, etc. You'd be surprised what you can find cheap. The mainstream gym's offer some decent deals when updating their equipment also. You can sometimes get used York plates @ $.35 per lb.

^i'd love to get a power rack, but it would take up too much room for a full cage.

keep in mind this in Canadian dollars. Cheapest weights I found used are $.60/lb. And $400-$500 for a Nautilus set like these is standard price on kijiji/craigslist.
