I have lost 140 pounds and want to gain muscle now

I still have fat in areas though that are very stubborn (love handles).

Will weight training help with this at all?

Also -everywhere I look says to eat more calories to gain muscle. If I eat 3,000 or 4,000 calories a day won't I just get fat? Plus I have talked to a lot of guys at the gym that are "big" and they are eating like 2,000 or 2,500 cals and muscular.

I do not want to get extremely massive. I just want to add some muscle to look a bit bigger. I don't want to get all ripped and just pure muscle like. I guess I just want to build some definition.

If I've been eating about 2,000 cals per day, how much do I need to gain muscle? I just don't want to get FAT again. I've worked so freakin' hard to lose 140 pounds, and I weigh about 160 now.

congrats on your weight loss bro. dont worry you aint going to get big anytime soon. it takes yrs to get " big" and yrs to get big enough to notice. 2 yrs youll really tell the difference. so dont think your going to be arnold in a month. your first 3 months just lay the foundation. r you on juice? that makes a big difference. ?

First, congrats on the weight loss..

    Eating:
Its about eating more than your bodies maintenance calories to build muscle, but more importantly, about eating the right types of food to get to the 4000 calories. Go back and read the stickys in the dieting forum and learn.

    Weight Training:
Review the stickys in this forum and check out the pages on people like Built and Gaz. Spend some time researching the exercises they recommend (primarily compound exercises) and spend the first few months learning how to do them right. Once you have your form in place, people on here will work with you to put together a program that will start you on your path to further success.

    Best of luck.

have you been doing WT at all? it sounds like your going to a gym but not doing weights. if so start a solid program(check the stickys) and you should start to fill out if your eating right!!!
good luck and congrats on the weight loss!!
