I recently was using a deadlift machine that has the that has the handle bars on the left and right sides for shoulder shrugs. I was doing the 8 sets of 8 routine and worked my way up to my highest weight ever. I was able to do one set of 8 with it and then only 5 reps on the last one.
Two days later I had this pain between my shoulder blades like being stabbed in the back. It's been a 4-5 days now and the pain is still there. It makes sleeping difficult sometimes. Anyway, could this be a compression in the spinal column pinching a nerve brought on by the excessive weight??? Is there a way to avoid this?? I don't want to have to stop using heavier weights.
This also happened once when I was doing barbell/incline bench presses. Any suggestions????
Weight lifting is like " Mind over Matter". If my body doesn't mind---the weight doesn't matter!!!!!

I had that from not watching my spine and letting it 'slack' up a bit during my last couple reps, 8 sets, for traps???????????
My problem took about a week to go away, I believe I had to lay off my next traps workout. Keep your head up, and watch the spine.
