i got the same thing when i was in boot camp. you do have shin splints. it's those dam hard ass boots. you need to break them in. easiest way to do that is fill them with water and run in them , make sure you dry them out, or the will get really stinky. that will soften up the leather. you probably need to take some advil to keep the swelling down. if it gets worst get your "doc" to give you something.
