On a training day directly after a workout would be optimal.

why would you want to have a junk meal on a training day? What are you going to feed the muscle with? junk? Isn't the whole purpose of a cheat meal to make your body think everything is OK and it burns more fat by doing this? this is why when you do a cheat meal your body gets very hot from burning all the sugars and carbs you just ate?

When you say cheat are you referring to adding in exercises or skipping exercises?

If your normal routine is a 4d split for example & your looking to add in some "small" isolation work (biceps possibly), there's nothing wrong with adding in another day here/there. It all depends on how your current routine lays out, we all run into makeup days or extras.

I think we all get caught up in thinking this weight training stuff is way more scientific than it really is. I'm guilty of it all the time.

I think he's referring to diet. The kinda cheat day that involves pizza.

I thought that straight after a workout muscles were really responsive to simple carbs because they are absorbed. So I would have thought if that was true that after a workout would be the best time to get some ice cream or pizza involved??
