man you can really get hurt doing something like that.

Fixed. For future reference, just post the video code (e.g. zm01kBuaHSc).
And yes, that is stupid. Hopefully he was just messing around rather than doing these as part of his program.

those types of exercises would only be beneficial for athletes like gymnasts, acrobats, parkour enthusiasts, etc. that type of balance and power could also prove to be useful in some martial arts techniques for the urban environment
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Wondering where to start? Confused? "Homework 1" will get you started.
Think you're ready for the "next step"? Take this test.

The other day we had a surfer come into the gym for a program, and we actually gave him some static squats on an inverted bosu (half ball). Hold parallel for 30 seconds then go to 1/4 and hold for 30 seconds. That is literally the ONLY useful application of these sorts of devices i've encountered in two years.
If you want functional training, get a sandbag and lug it about. If you want core, to some military press and squats. People who say pressing 20lbs on these is more functional and useful than pressing 100lbs standing on the floor is a moron.

one slip and by the way he's putting force on the outside of his ankles he's got a good chance to break both of them at the same time or at least rip ankle tendons and ligaments
just stupid!

He must be a P90X enthusiast.

-I know your words, just not together.
I think gymnasts and acrobats develop plenty of sport-specific balance through their sport. They train to be strong and that includes their stabilizers, but I doubt professional gymnasts squat on a bosu ball.
I've actually heard they do a lot of unilateral work like pistols, split squats, single-leg RDLs, etc.
man i just did that last night with 225lbs i'm a fucking cannon

that has to be the dumbest shit i've ever seen.

If I was at this gym, I would have to really fight off the urge of kicking the ball out from underneath him.

Shit like that would get you run out of the gym I belong to! LOL

What happens when he loses his balance and tosses the bar into someone walking by and it breaks both of that poor guys ankles. he should at least be facing the wall to protect everyone else in the gym.

WTF?
why would you try this unless dared for money. Even then the guy better have tons of money for the hospital. Remember we are paying for 500 lbs and druggies to do their stuff.LOL
Training is everything. The peach was once a bitter almond; cauliflower is nothing but Cabbage with a College Education.

Stuff like this get you inducted into the Gym idiot hall of fame.

Sure they'd benefit from it, but what's the risk? Training is about risk v. reward. The extra benefit you get from adding the bosu ball is small compared to the risk involved from adding that.
got one at my house for my wife and she don't use it. But my daughter loves it, she is 4 and is like wow thats my big ball it's funny as hell i hate them things too always in the way wtf lol![]()
Forget breaking your ankles, try falling backwards and landing with your neck on the bar... he'll be doing "ukrainian tounge lifts" christopher reeves style for the rest of his life.
