    tabata

so i have been looking at some sort of cardio workout to do that didnt take 20 minutes out of your day (because cardio is extremely boring to me and i have to short of a attention span). A friend of mine told me about tabata exercises and downloaded a app on my phone that is just a timer for it.

for people who do not know what it is, it is 20 seconds of work, and 10 seconds of rest (sounds alot like HIIT to me).

so anyways i plan on using this on my off days from lifting for a total of 4 minutes, today was my first go at it. I did burpees for the workout, and i can not believe how gassed i am, i cant remember the last time i was so exhausted!

has anyone tried this program? and how was your experience with it? my goal is for it to help me lean out a bit.

I love tabata ...... dont be a pussy and stop at once though 4 mins of it is hard but not long enough to get any REAL effects
choose three movements rest inbetween and then hit it
    burpee
    running on spot
    thrusters

    cardioisoverated??
says who??? by those who choose not to do cardio??
personally, i like being able to win a very hard 60-110 mile bicycle race, but still be able to deadlift 215 pounds over my bodyweight.
never understood why some badmouth cardio..

It's all about goals. If those are your goals, then obviously cycling is going to be a key part of your training.

In the case of the OP, he said his goal was to lean out. I'd say that the right diet is essential to that goal.

It does all come down to goals and interests \
I LOVE to go hard and the feeling of power that both my weights AND my cardio give me. I have gone periods of time with out one or the other and never feel quite balanced ... I always felt like something was missing.
to lean out diet is THE most important but cardio is key to that goal as well
PS that is what is so great about tabats !!! two for one ........ cardio AND weights

If your stamina is not great work your way up...maybe do 10 sec on 20 off then 15on 15off then 20on 10off..but try for at least 20 min..and burpees is one of the hardest workouts... Mix it up to get used to...
