    texas method help

i did SS in hs and saw good gains. now im 180 bench 250 squat 305 and deadlift 415.
i know want to start texas method but im not really sure what it is i just keep hearing about it. i looked it up and found a bunch of different sites the one that interested me most was this one(ok i guess i cant post links yet but its this (t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/the_texas_method)
do you think this one is good? and do you think instead of doing
bench 5x5 mon then weds 3x5 oh press fri workup to max rep
then next week instead of OH press 5x5
just repeat the bench thing so i can get my bench really high since im not really that interested in overhead press strength right now.

Whether you're interested or not, doing military and bench will do more for your bench than doing just bench will. The Texas Method is a great training protocol, and it's structured the way it is for a reason. Keep it that way.

    This!

    Big OHP = big bench

A big OHP press is also impressive as fuck. You see very few people pressing 225+ standing.

You could also look into the linear 5x5 a la madcow. I've had a lot of success with that program. The volume for the Texas method can get to be too much for some.

i posted this before, but it really relates to the OP wanting to improve his bench pressing.

back in the late 70's, after 8 years of track and x-country running, by buddy decided to give up competitive running.. we ALWAYS went to the gym to build strength for running, a way to get stronger and faster. he just wanted to give up the hard run training and do something else
at the time my friend weightd 159.
we were at the world famous george turners gym, and my buddy was maxing his bench that day.
he put up 365 for a single, and george , who was close by training and kinda watching, said, "great bench.... how mucuh you squat"? my friend said he dosent train legs as he ran track and x-country the last 8 years.. george said if he started squating as hard as he trained his bench, his bench would go up..big time..
so take this advice from a top coach thats been in the game since the 50's and still is. some of his clients at his gym , and i was lucky enough to train pullups and calves one workout with him, was ken waller. another member was former mr olympia Samir Bannout... tony pearson, as well as tons of other mr this and me that..world class strongmen... bob young was a member too.he and his brother held the world record in the two man deadlift.
    george turner knows his stuff..
    do squats!!!
