I've seen smith bench presses on a Swiss ball.
Where is the logic in that?

Just wondering what kind of odd combinations you've seen at the gym, as far as people doing exercises on machines meant for something else.
For example, there is a guy at my gym that uses the hack squat machine to work his neck. Don't ask me to describe what he does because it's just too odd to describe.
There is another guy that does flat bench presses using a Smith machine. Nothing unusal about that, but this guy lies on the floor when he does it.

To refuse to learn anything that could prove beneficial to yourself is a working definition of stupid!
High-intensity training is going all-out, not almost all out. It is taking one set to one's absolute limit, not almost to the limit. It is using whatever equipment’s available. It is not the words of two or three men, but a commitment to work as hard as possible while in the gym without socializing, resting excessively between sets, or falling prey to the 'this isn't going to work so I'll copy the star' attitude"
We have a seated shoulder press machine. I once saw someone stand on the seat and do shrugs.
I like the newbies that do all kinds of funky moves with the DBs.
I've seen people do bench presses with wrist staps.
to be the man you have to beat the man.
I've seen that to, I asked about this once a long time ago on the forums and the two answers I got were:Originally posted by seyone
I've seen people do bench presses with wrist staps.
-It helps reduce the angle on the wrists
-Its unsed to help control the bar for thumbless grips.

Gotta love the guys that use the standing calf raise machine for shrugs....just use some DBs and leave the calf machine for those of thus that actually train the other half of our bodies
Searching for the right balance...

He actually mounts the machine front first so his chest is to the back rest, and rests his forehead on the shoulder harness, using a foam mat as a cusion. His forehead is the only part of his body that touches the machine. He then rolls his head up and down in what I am assuming is some kind of neck exercise.Originally posted by seyone

I've seen people lie on the floor using the smith machine for benches as well. This is to keep the arms from extending past the horizontal position
Weight lifting is like " Mind over Matter". If my body doesn't mind---the weight doesn't matter!!!!!

I use a trap bar for my finishing sets of squats. I load it up just like I would for shrugs, only I squat with the weight. I find it recruits more muscle fibers than the traditional back squat. Plus, you don't have all that weight on you shoulders. Talk about a skin splitting pump!

This thread was the first thing I thought of at the gym today!
Some little old man came to work in with me on the standing calf raises.. Only I think he was trying to use them to Squat! He'd get about 1/3 of the way down with his ass hanging out, and then pop back straight up.
I swear it looked like the dude was humping the plates!
I tried not to laugh but I think he heard me chuckling and took off after just 1 set.
I saw a fellow ( a rather large fellow, not that it mattered as I praise him for making the effort)on the bench press the other day, he had two forty fives one per side on the BB, what I found odd is that the fellow would push the 45's up and down a few times (4 at most) and then he would start sitting up, swinging with his feet and arms in order to gain momentum, he would swing out and sit up, lay back down on the bench, swing out and sit up, he did like 50 of these for each set of 2-4 benches, looked very odd!
