Let the New Year Rush Begin!!

Now that the New Year began, I'm sure you're aware that the gym gets busy... Do you feel more motivated to go to the gym when the New Years resolution people come to workout or do you feel more discouraged?
    Feel the rush...

DIScouraged. Bunch of assholes taking up space and wasting oxygen. Little fuckers hogging the squat rack to do their barbell curls or just sitting on their fat asses watching the silicone hotties strut by doing nothing.

Luckily they only last a couple of weeks, otherwise I'd have to take things into my own hands...................

Golds? Yes. That one? No. I joined the little one at the corner of Aliante Pkwy and Centennial. It's open early enough that I can go before work, it has good showers and it's only about a block from my house.

I wish the DBs went up past 100s but, can't have everything.

Couldn't have said it better myself! One dude today was doing ALL of his lifts on the squat rack. Well, today was my leg day, so I had to evict him. I think I was nice enough

I do most of my stuff in the squat rack because it's the one place I'm guaranteed nobody in my gym will ever bother me to move or work in.

So as a result the new years crowd hasn't bothered what so ever. They seem suprised when I politely ask if they are going to use that plate but other than that my little area (squat rack) stays clear.

I normally kill myself between Christmas and New Years Eve at the gym them take a week off and it seem most of them are already gone when I get back. This is almost as bad as when football tryouts start at the local highschool.

I enjoy being stronger than 90% of the grown men who go up there now. I hate how crowded it is, how there are no parking spots, how there are NEVER any free benches without waiting in line, how people do the dumbest shit on the squat/bench racks (none of it being anything involving a squatting/benching motion) and most of all the increased number of people doing there lifts incorrectly. I don't know why but that pisses me off more than anything in the world.

What about the guy who sits down on the Flat Barbell bench to do concentration curls? Saw that today...

Oh, and the guy doing curls in the squat rack with just the bar? Saw that today, as well.

    A different opinion on this.

Mostly all of us have been dumb and green in the gym when we started.

Rather than pummel them why dont you tell them about these forums. you may end up with a new lifting partner in a few months!!

That might work for 1 out of 10 people, but the rest of them would just ignore the good advice. So it's kind of a waste of time...

Sometimes I want to help people when they are doing something wrong just because I wouldn't mind if someone helped me. But I normally walk past and crack a smile.

I have noticed that I'm the ONLY person im my gym besides one of my firends that I've ever seen doing dead lifts or real rows.

I saw this guy put 25's on the smith machine and then attempt what I coined "North Koren Death March." It looks kind of like realllllllly long lunges but he picks his front foot up really high at the end of each rep Not to mention I think he has a twitch cause he always looks like he's trying to crack his neck.

"Pummel them" - I love it.

Believe me, I have tried to take a young buck under my wing every so often, but like bigcruz said, most of the time they want to do their own thing. "I saw this in Muscle and Fitness", I was told once. Yeah, well are you f**king Jay Cutler?!?!?

Ironically I saw both those scenarios today....Looks like its not just my gym thats filled with idiots. Stupidity - a nation wide phenomenon.

The gym was back to normal today. Has it ended this early? Or is working out M-W an excuse to take Thursday off?

Have some sympathy for guys like me who work at the gym i train at. Not only do i have to put up with all the normal shit, but i have to sign them up too. Fucking mountain of paperwork and smiles for 80% that wont last a month because for some reason they refuse to ask for advice.

Gonna really be pushing our "free PT session every six weeks" offer this year to at least do some damage control and get some quality programs going.

I can't believe it, or maybe I shouldn't speak so soon, but the gym is back to normal already. Wow...what a New Year's resolution - 3 whole days. Great job!
