    Lifting and sex... question

Sorry in advance if this is a stupid question but I have to ask. Will sexual activity pre-workout affect your performance in the gym? I've had someone mention, long time ago, that it is never a good idea to have sex prior to going to the gym and lifting. Since then, on days I work out, I would never engage in sex until after my workout. I would always be paranoid that if I have sex even hours before I work out, it will deplete my test levels and affect my lifting capability and muscle development in the long run. I've also heard coaches tell athletes preparing for a fight to refrain from sex up to a few days before the fight for better performance. Aside from speculation, does anyone know anything with regard to this? I would really like to know if I have sex say 2 hours before going to the gym if it will affect my lifting. Thoughts??

They tested this on that show "Sports Science". It is bunk. The fighter could actually hit harder after banging his wife. You can probably find it on youtube.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

While it is true that sexual energy is potent, your testosterone levels actually rise after sex. There is definitely something to sustaining from "releasing" your energy though, and the hormones that make you feel tired after sex do not really encourage me to hit the weights hard.

If you are truly interested in sustaining and even increasing your energy levels, look in to Tantra. I have a very basic understanding of it, but even with my limited knowledge I have noticed a definite INCREASE in energy afterwards, as oppose to the usual lethargy.

Yup. You were right. It was a stupid question. Fatigue I guess would have an effect if you're gutting her like a fish for hours but that's all.

My workouts don't suffer if I get laid first.

Mind you, I pretty much just lie back and take it.

    You turn down TAIL?

    For a WORKOUT?

That's it. I'm reporting you for breaching the Man Code.
Wondering where to start? Confused? "Homework 1" will get you started.

Think you're ready for the "next step"? Take this test.

Best advice on the subject is a) wash your hands before you start the workout, b) hydrate, and c) no bragging!

No, sounds like a great warm up actually.

I know you are concerned about your training performance, but this a bit over the line in my opinion. I'd go as far to say that stressing yourself about such things is going to a negative impact on your lifting, more than any fucking would.

Couldn't agree more. Any positive or negative effect sex gives you on your training is placebo.
