    5 x 5 and the CNS

I have been doing the madcow 5 x 5 intermediate for a while now, about 6 weeks or so. I made some gains when I started but now I seemed to hit a plateau. I know I haven't taken a break in a while, do you think my CNS needs recovery? also is doing lower reps for an increase in strength for a long period of time bad for the CNS?

Take 2 weeks off and test for your new 5 rep maxes at the end of the second week. Then start over again working up to your new 5 rep maxes by week 3 (by this I mean 3 weeks after you've tested for them).

I like the idea of a deload week, or maybe just not training for a week at all. how many weeks of consistently working out till you think I have to take off again?
