    Hey man,

Thats a very general question. I can give a general answer, reduce the sweets and increase weight training and cardio.

Do you have experience with weight training? I think that many women have a tendency to lay on the side of caution when it comes to lifting weights. If you can push her to lift a little bit heavier that in turn will help with hypertrophy (muscle building) and in turn will lead to higher resting metabolism thus more caloric expenditure. Also there was an article put out by ACSM that cardio is best done after weight training as it allows the energy to placed upon the weight training. As far as protein shakes is may not be a necessary to drink them although helpful. But I would say immediately after a workout. Also a smoothie of protein powder and fruit may be good as the protein helps with the muscle breakdown and the fruit helps with restoring some energy reserves that were burned out during exercise. What type of training does she do now?

You really think drinking protein shakes all day is a good idea here?

to loose bodyfat...without sufficient protein intake the weight loss would be 1/2 muscle and 1/2 fat...depending on her bdft/mass index ratio. But anyone whos cutting needs protein..i doubt shes looking to cut muscle

She might be drinking shakes for this. Or because somebody told her she should. Or because she doesn't eat meat. There's no need for protein shakes if you prefer your protein to be chewable - although they can be used while cutting or bulking; it all comes down to the macros and the calories.

stfu, your assumption may be correct, but the thing is, we just don't know until the op or his wife replies.
