Not lifting for a week! FML

So me and the lady friend are going on a 6 day(Sunday-Saturday) vacation down to Cancun hopefully we don't get kidnapped ha. I usually dont take breaks from the gym except taking 2-3 days off for the flu or something of that sort which i rarely get sick hopefully I don't go insane. How have some of you guys felt during the week off? ha The bright side when I come back I start my cycle.

Taking a week off will do you good anyway. Lets your body completely repair and give your nervous system a rest.

Dude. You may realize you wanna take a week of a few times a year afer you do it. You'll feel fresh and rested and your muscles will thank you. I take 4 or 5 days off now about every 3-4 months.

You really gotta listen to your body. It will tell you tell tale signs that it needs to rest more than a couple of days. That aching joint will not heal itself and get better unless you take some time off.

If you're like me, you will feel like you're slacking off by taking a week off but, trust me, your body will thank you for it.

Isnt that fucked up. I plan everything in my life including social life around eating and going to the gym so I dont feel like a giant sack of shit.

How is it so hard for some people, like the new years resolution people, to get motivated to create the look that they are proud of. I dont get it. Maybe its in our blood.

****EDIT**** Sorry for the hijack. MY brain started churning and I forgot where I was at...

As far as the new years resolution people most people are quitters its just human nature i believe. I do believe that people like us that have a constructive hobby/lifestyle that desire and drive spills over into other aspects of our lives such as work, relationships and etc.

Honestly, a week off from the gym has done wonders for me. I think it is great for your body to take some time off like this every once in a while. Well that is as long as you are not going to put your body through hell while you are taking your break, things such as excessive drinking and stuff.

When you take this week off try to relax as much as possible and just let your body recover. When you get back in the gym you should feel super refreshed and ready to go, possibly stronger also.

it's more American nature, i've observed. ofcourse not all but the ratio of lazy, complaining whiners is staggering in this country.

a weeks rest is a good idea bro. wouldnt mind being on my way to cancun.... or just for my wife and crazy son to leave the house for 5 min!!!

You meatheads may want to consider deloading more frequently.

Here's some decent info on the matter.

I did mean 'deload' but it probably means the same thing as 'unload'.

To deload is to take a week or so allow for sufficient recovery. One can decrease their volume, intensity, or both (usually by half) or one can take the week to work on some other modality of exercise. Perhaps one plays recreational basketball and the deload week would be a good time to work on some plyometrics. One can basically do whatever -- mountain bike, swim, hike, surf....whatever floats your boat.

Generally, taking a deload week about once per month is a pretty good idea.
