    bicep problems

I noticed today while doing ez bar curls that my biceps just didn't seem right. Lately I've really been trying to squeeze at the top of the movement when I do bicep exercises. I'm using good form and nice steady (on the side of slow) movements. I watch my biceps as I bring the bar up and I can see them contracting and it seems right as i get to the top to hold and squeeze at the last bit the muscle just falls like a cake in the oven. I thought maybe because of the ez bar hand grip (I switch between ez bar and straight bar depending on mood) But I also noticed I just could get a good full on hard squeeze while doing single arm preacher curls. I'd get great muscle flex all the way thru the movement except at the top. I know my routine is working, my arms are pumped to the max and I've added 3/4" in size to them in a month. I've got good mass, but I'm hoping to get the squeeze to maybe help with some more peak. Seems the only time I get good squeeze for peak is over head cable curls which I know is a good peak move. Any you guys ever notice something like this or am i just over analyzing things. (that could be these dam prework out mixes make you focus way too much sometimes)

That peak is a genetic thing. Some really have it some don't.
What are you taking to get your arms to grow 3/4 inch in a month. Lol. That's fast growth if you aren't lying. I don't believe it but stranger things have happened.

If it doesn't feel right then don't do it. Couple of things - the squeeze you speak of at the top of the curl will not help with any peak you are seeking. Your muscle can only increase or decrease in size but it certainly can't be carved into a shape you want it to be (peak). You can increase your bicep size by doing other compound lifts like bb rows, chin-ups and pull-ups, in fact your arms will grow faster if you do more compound lifts as oppose to isolation. If this isolation lift is causing you a problem don't do it and don't sweat it.

There's no resistance at the top of a curl, so of course the muscles have no tension on them at that point.

Set up like you're going to do a one-armed dumbbell row, but instead 'curl' the dumbbell up to your sternum. You'll have more tension at the end of the movement. You could also just lean forward a bit while curling with an ez bar, but it's not comfortable on the back.

Try spider curls if you are looking for contraction at the top.
Flip the preacher bench around and lean against the pad letting your arms hang to the floor. Then curl with an ez bar or straight bar. There's no rest at the top. Only when arms are extended down. Check out YouTube if you can't picture it.

I do my compound movements first with back. Guess I just got caught up in magazine speak where they talk about squeezing and holding for a moment. Like I said prod was the jack3d that had me over thinking things. And yes swear 3/4" in one month, u know taking my vitamins, saying my prayers and hanging and banging them brother! Thanks for the help guys.
