Getting back in shape

Hi folks. Over the last 18 months I have been a very big alcohol drinker, drinking, on average around 5 cans of strong lager per day, religously. Last Friday I decided that enough was enough, having gone from just over 11 stone to 13.5 during that time (I'm 6ft 1").

So, I started with my new regime on Monday, and like I said, weighing about 13 and a half stone. What I decided to do was, go tee total on the booze, cut out eating crap in between meals (As I had been doing) and go to the gym 3 times a week.

Now having stopped drinking, and eating junk food while doing so, going to the gym thrice, doing the bleep test and having a very rigourous soccer training session, according to my scales, I now weight just under 13 stone. It seems to me, that the weight loss is visble too.

Is it possible that I have in fact lost weight this quickly? Certainly without the beer, I feel a lot more enegetic and even my poo has some solidity to it; where it had been very messy before.

What I'm trying to ask is, is the removal of alcohol and large amounts of junk food from my diet having such an effect or am I just seeing things? I wasn't expecting things to change this rapidly. If so, can I expect things to continue at this rate?

While I'm here, could I ask for some suggestions for some weight loss excercises I can do around the house? Finally, does drinking lots of water help the body detox. and lose weight?

Thanks a lot,

Cheers,
Jonny

Water non stop, lots of it.Lots of vit c for detox..For weight loss you could skip rope, jog on the spot.If you were that unhealthy I would say that you will probably see dramatic changes for the first little while but then you will have to work for it. Dont stop eating but focus more on quality food. And go to the gym and build some muscle to help with the weight loss. I would worry more about how you look then what the scale says because muscle weighs more than fat. Do not get scale fixation.Good luck and keep it up. It will continue to get better all the time.

Height: 6 ft. Weight: 260 ish.
Arms: 21.5" ("shooting" for 22's...)
Chest: 52 inches
Waist: 34 inches

Good times.

Best advice ever: go by the mirror instead of the scale.
Nobody will judge you by how much you weigh, but how you look.

Alcohol inhibits protein synthesis, increases oestrogen levels and all kinds of pleasantries.

Today could as well be the beginning of your new life, just hang in there
