I have had a sinus infection the last few days. Went to my Dr. yesterday. After the dr's visit I went straight to the gym and had one of the best workouts I've had since getting back to it. It sucks, but I didn't want to miss the opportunity to workout. I went home and got in the bed afterwards and told the house keeper to keep the kids quite OR ELSE! lol

I had a bad sinus infection a month ago that lasted about 4 days, all of which were big training days for me. Everytime I went, hit it hard and left feeling MUCH better than I did before I went in. Sometimes you just have to sweat that shit out!

Sure, I've done it. Weights, cardio, bike rides. I tell you though, running an hour on a treadmill while battling a cold is 100% pure hell. But it makes those non-sick runs feel so much easier.

I hate all of you nasty ass germ spreading sock suckers. If you are on antibiotics, you have something that is contagious, and you bring that shit to the gym to spread around to everyone else.

    Fucking selfish inconsiderate fucks.

Allergies maybe, but there is other shit that you can get from people who are sick with a cold or the flu or whatever people call it. I mean, at least we aren't sharing needless...Hepatitis!

Word of advice, always wipe down the equipment and WASH your damn hands.

If I don't feel good, I will train. If I am sick, running a fever, then no. I train at a family fitness gym and there are many older members. I don't want to make any of them sick if I am sick. I just keep my diet tight and return when I am better.

I have been sick the last two days and there is no way I am going to the gym to pass this one around. I feel like shit. It is 90+ degrees and I have an upper respiratory infection at least that is my guess. I don't want to go to a doc unless absolutely needed. It is hard to breathe because of the humidity and my illness. I am hoping tomorrow will bring a better day. I just want to hit the weights hard. The only positive thing about getting sick is when you come out of it, you feel so much more driven and motivated to train at least that is what happens to me lol.

they say above the neck youre good to go, below and you should rest.

I pretty much follow that but it really comes down to how you feel. If you feel terrible dont go, if you feel slightly ill then do it.

if you have no energy , tired or any symptoms to your body below the neck that would cause you not to train to your max why bother, rest and hit it hard a day or so later , nothing will change if you do not go for a few days

Anyone else believe that mild exposure to germs helps keep the immune system in check?
Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of training while sick or with sick people but germs are everywhere.
FWIW, I wash my hands before I eat, especially after training and take adequate amounts of vitamin D and I have not been sick a day in over 3 years even while training around sick people.

Yea its like going to work or school, if its contagious its better to stay home then going around passing it to others.

never do. Unless its a 3-4 week long illness i find training while sick always counter productive.

tried leg day once with a bad cold and nearly passed out on squats

If i just have a cough or a runny nose, I'll train. If I feel like sh*t, I'll take 2 days off and return when I'm 100%.

I hate to miss, so I push through. Feel like crap and sometimes I don't give it my all, but I feel better in the long run.

I have always trained through the various minor illnesses I have come down with. I feel like as long as you dont push your body past the limit of exhaustion, then you are only benefiting your weakened immune system. My justification may be a little off, but it has worked for me to stay mentally strong to keep getting into the gym even on rough days/weeks.
