    How much rest

I'm 37 and trying hard to bulk up. I've increased my weight from 162 to 205 over the past five years or so, with 12% body fat. I have a solid diet and I think my workout routine is good. However, I sometimes wonder if I should lift mote frequently.

I do back and bis on Monday, legs on Wednesday, and chest, tris and shoulders on Friday. My workouts are pretty intense, as I am trying to bulk still, looking to get up to 220 lbs.

Anyway, I wonder if I would benefit from hitting each body part more than once every seven days. Is six days of rest really necessary for optimum muscle growth?

I don't think it is and i think if your looking for good quailty bulk then more intense(as in speed not weight intensity) and frequent workouts deilver better results as far as i'm concerned.

Yet that being said for someone of your age i'd suggest the following split

Monday-shoulders + traps/chest +tris (depending on which is the weaker of the two bodyparts
    Tuesday - Legs
    Wednesday-Back Bis
Thursday-shoulders + traps/chest+tris(whichever was not trained on monday)
    Friday-rest
    Saturday-weakest bodypart trained again
    Sunday-rest

this way you can hit delts with 100% focus and then you have timeon saturday to assess your physique and hit your lagging bodyparts again
