    post workout naps

My work schedule is changing to where I have to get up at 530am and wont get to bed until 1030. That will give me 7 hours of sleep at best, and I am an 8 hour a night sleeper. However, most days will I have about an hour/hour and a half after my workout where I could take a nap. Will taking a post workout nap be beneficial (so I can get my 8 hours of total sleep) or detrimental?

Definitely beneficial. It just will take a while to figure out what is your best amount in terms of getting rest but not waking up too groggy. Start with 45 minutes and adjust up/down based on how you feel when you wake up.

Olympic athletes use naps for recovery - you can too.
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

I don't get out of the gym until 6:30-7:00pm so I don't have time for a nap if I want to live! haha. I don't bodybuild for a living, so I enjoy my life outside of work & eating/training/sleeping. I wish I could, though!

However, if you want that rest and you can get the rest... Have at it!

If my girl and I go together or she is home when I get home I would rather spend time with her. But if she is at work and won't be home for an hour or two, it's nap time for Anabolic!!

I'm getting a dose of not sleeping now. We got an 8 week old Rottie puppy to go along with our 4 year old male. She has the house in chaos with her sleep schedule right now. Oh the joys of parenthood, LOL

Yeah, I'm glad I get up at 5am normally because if I try to sleep in I have two tongues licking my face saying "get the f up and let me out dude." And neither of them is my wife. It will make kids seem like no problem.

I love naps. Now if I can just get my wife to quit opening and closing doors while I am napping all will be good!

I really like taking a nap after a hard workout. If I have the time to do it, it will really help me get through the rest of the day.

Oh wow. If I could workout, then and sleep right after my lift that'd be amazing. That just screams maximal growth potential to me.

'Sleep' and 'detrimental' does not compute.

Love the post workout nap, but only applies certain days of the week if I'm off and summers I can forget about it with kids home from school. Nap away but for me if i go ore than 45min to hour i drag afterwards.

I used to not be able to take naps, but now that I get up around 530 most morning i find it pretty easy. I can now pretty much nap wherever and whenever I want lol.

I would love to have a post work out nap. The best compromise I can get is closing my office door at lunch time and catching a few winks. There are some benefits to being the boss.

A power-nap of even just 30 minutes can be massively beneficial. It's also easier to get into a state of rapid eye movement during a power-nap (because your body knows you have a limited time). I swear by them.
