Absolutely. Along with many others. Don't be afraid to try something new, especially when it's been used so successfully by many before you. Check out some of the posted logs; lots of good info to be gleaned from other lifters and how they make progress.

I have been doing it for a few weeks now, I had shoulder surgery 8 months ago and have not been doing freeweights until I started 5x5. Mostly hammer machines. My issue is squatting I am substituting leg press because I have a plate in my ankle that limits my mobility when squatting

yes, good work load with heavy weighs. second time around hit it with 3 x 8 and repeat. Ran this for 6 weeks and made good gains all round using multijoint main lifts.

Definitely a good thing to do for a while. I have been doing the 5x5 heavy compounds as my first movement for the past four weeks. Been seeing steady gains each week all around.

Started 5x5 with the BGB routine about three months ago.....still seeing steady increases, and massive increases (for me) the first two months. My boys are using the same, and having the same results.

Absolutely. This routine and Mark Rippetoe's starting strength routine are both ideal ways to build a good frame and base of strength.
