First off, NO, it isn't my 'jacking' arm, so hold those comments, wise guys and girls.
Okay, down to business; for the last couple of months my left arm hurts quite often, mostly at the upper portion of the bicep closest to my elbow, and also it feels as though there is a tendon of sorts at the elbow that is often tender.
This really screws me up on certain exercises, for example, today I was doing DB bench press, and the pain prevented me from being able to get the weights up to the starting position.
Now, if someone assists me by handing the weights to me when my arms are extended, and then I start from there, it doesn't bother me. But, that first rep, you know, when you have to pull the weight up beyond your body to prepare for the first rep? Yeah, that is a real muther fuqqer.
Any thoughts, other than I'm a wuss, that is?![]()
Thanks, I'm off to find my tissues now.

Vai, when did the pain start, and can you remember what you were doing when it started? or did you just wake up one day and it was hurting?
It's been sort of an on and off thing over the last year. When I first noticed it was after being on a heavy weight/low rep routine. I really noticed it when I was doing pullups, and also all curls.Originally posted by IPMC

I had taken a good (bad) 4 weeks off from lifting recently, so I'm sure there's been adequate 'rest' time. Besides, it was still bothering me quite a bit, even with no lifting what so ever.

Maybe you have some tendinitis in your bicep/elbow. As an aspiring professional guitarist and avid weight lifter I can tell you that over the years I have been batteling tendenitis in my elbows, forearms and hands. I can usually just suck it up and push threw it but I know that when it's bad it's real bad. One thing I have been doing is supplementing with 100-150mg of B6 a day. Everyone tells me that that is an old guitar player trick. But you might want to go and get yourself checked out anyway because if it's noe tendenitis it could be something worse, maybe you tore yor bicep?

Had the same problem in my right arm lower bicep area.
I think it was from pullups as well as bb curl going all the way down and locking the elbow.
It took a long time to heal up, mostly cause I wouldn't stop lifting but since I've stopped just Short of locking at the elbow for Pullups, and any other curls, it has never come back. I think using a thumbless grip for any pulling movements has also helped.

Okay Scotty, thanks. Sounds like I've been doing what you were doing...shit! Okay, I'll not lock out any more and see how that does.
Yeah, I've avoided wrapping my thumb around the bar for some time now, and will keep doing that.
Fuqqn shit anyway!

I'm going through the same thing, especially after my chest and shoulder days. I talked to a couple people about it and they listed cold weather and dehydration. I've been drinking a ton of water and laying off the alcohol (which i should've been doing anyway) and the pain seems to be going away.... i'm too pumped to take a break... just hope i'm not causing permanent damage!!
