I can't train with my wife for several reasons.....the intensity, the discipline....the Heart!
...and I absolutely h8 her yelling OUCH.."Don't touch me there" if I did and make her too sore (esp chest and legs, kind of ruins bedtime)
So I'm wondering.....who here can train with there spouses/partners and who can not...and WHY?

yield her the perfect sixpack and slim, muscular legs ..
Other than that, she hates it when I make faces while pushing +/- 2x my BW in bench press ..
(oh, and she thinks I'm to big already .. I'm 160 :sad: )

Funny you asked this, thismorning was the FIRST time the wife and I went to the gym together.
We had a good workout, I mostly showed her how everything works, did a little of everything and still had a good workout.
I think she's gonna hate me by tonight or tomorrow for sure, cause I made her work, she likes to talk to people and I wouldn't let her.![]()

Mainly because we just train differently.


I take (ok, drag) MBC to the gym with me. We always work out together. We usually spot each other on a couple of exercises, but do own thing the rest of the time. The only time it ever gets frustrating is when she finishes her workout before me, then kind of lingers around while I finish up. That makes it hard to concentrate. But overall, it's nice to have a wife who's your workout buddy.

My partner was a no show, her partners were no-shows....so guess what...she asks to W/O with me. I mean what can you say
So, I'm basically warming up...and I lead her through 10 sets.....I notice that she is putting puny w8's on the Hammer Strength Chest...so I ask her why so light...."Well my Partners don't know how to spot!" After her first set, I ask what her top w8 is...and we do the second set...me making her stop at 8 reps , 25 pound plate on each side.......so I put on 35's for her next set and she says...."I can't do that!" as she does 6. Some cable flyes, heavier than she usually goes, 3 sets. So here is the kicker.....3rd exercise....35 degree incline DB. I was only gonna take her thru 3 easy sets.....she gets like 8 at 25 on the third......(and she never does these)....so I make her do a 4th.....5 at 35 with barely a spot on the last one!
I still don't want to train her...and I'll pay dearly for her coming soreness....no face to face sex for days, but who the fuck is she kidding with her W/O's.....no wonder she nor her partners get anywhere!

Sometimes we do, but the workouts would take longer. I prefer to do my weight-lifting in full concentration and done in an hour, the same goes for her. Plus, our working hours come into play as well.

I hear ya DP, it was the same with my wife, she was scared to use some weight but had no problem up to the last couple reps on each set.

I find working out alone is better for me. My routine, my pace. Besides, she couldn't do half the exercises that I do.

Anyway, I can't workout with my GF bc/ of our arguments of the right/wrong way of doing things plus her workout is much different from mine!
I agree with everythoing everyone has said, when I worked out with my X-G-friend, my workout took like a half hour longer than usual, simply becasue I had toi explain the same exercises week in and week out because she :"forgot" how to do them. She ended up doing a ton more sets than she normally does alone becasue Like DP and STB I pushed her farther that she thought she coulf gop, so there were like 3-4 warm-up sets at a weight that she "thought" was good. Dude it used to kill me, oh and the bitching and complaining about how hard I made her work, holy hell, I couldnt take it anymore. We broke up not that long ago, but it is definiteyl going to take someone special for me to start going to the gym with a significaiant other ever again!!!!

I just cant workout with my wife. She is too slow and works out too light.
