    Importance of specific exercises?

What i'm wondering is the importance of isolation exercises when trying to gain overall mass?

My question comes from my shoulder day today. Say my routine consisted of majorly compound exercises such as the shoulder press, behind neck press, upright rows for example. Is there little to no point in carrying out exercises such as dumbell front raises and lateral raises which isolate the head if my goal is to gain overall mass, as I thought isolation exercises helped gather detail to a muscle rather than specifically to gain size?

    yeah

you should design your routine with compound excercises but I think not all.

IMO compounds are all you need for most bodyparts. I mostly use isolation exercises for muscles like tris, calves, and shoulders that i feel aren't hit well enough by the compound lifts, whether that be due to genetics or one bodypart being more ready for the training day than another.
