    Finally!!!!!!

I finally got a set of weights for x-mas yesterday and am very eager to get started. Hope I am in the right place. I want to get myself back in some type of shape and I know that I have a long road ahead of me. Here's where I am at now. I am 42 years old I am about 5'10" and I weight about 310 pounds. I started jogging and doing pushups and stretches every other day and am now up to 3 miles and a couple sets of pushups. I am asking for any help in developing a training schedule so that I can get back into shape. Any and all suggestions are very welcomed. Thanks in advance.

I have a 300 pound set from Weider, along with a pair of 35 pound dumbells and a bench with leg attachment. What is a swiss ball?

I applaud your efforts. I know it's very hard at first, but stick with it. You will have setbacks and gains along your journey. But hang in there. The road you have started down is a long one. And every chance you get, purchase more dumbells.

Welcome to IM, and congrats on your decision to take control of yourself! Remember, exercise is about 25% of the equation. Without a proper diet, you'll see minimal results.

    Welcome to IM!!
First thing I would start off here is checking out the Diet and Nutrition section, get a good diet going FIRST, then start on the Cardio and Weights.

Keep things simple to start with, if you start doing to many things, your likely to get discouraged so KEEP IT SIMPLE.
learn proper form in the basic core movements, get plenty of rest and keep things fun, your more likely to stick with it.
As far as routines go, check out the main IM page, there's a good basic routine there as well, check out the diary section and see what others are doing.
Once you get that figured out, feel free to post it here and we'll give you help with anything your not sure about.

Best of luck, you've made the first step!!
    Cool
