Apparently when i do db presses of any type my tp reckons my elbows grind and pop but i cant feel it?? So who cares...
But go and get it checked anyway.
A few years ago I was doing declines to failure (no spotter) with some moderate weight (75 lb dumbells). Once I hit failure I went to let the weight down (from the lying position) and since my arm could no longer hold the weight, I tried to stop it from hitting the floor hard - then POP!right in my shoulder.
I laid off for a week or two (it never swelled) but once I started back, I noticed that I had lost some control at certain arm ranges (and the peck muscle also weak). Now, I notice some big time popping when doing bench, lateral raises and most shoulder exercises (mostly popping without pain).
Any advice on if I should have this checked out?
I don't want to have surgery in fear of not ever being able to push heavy weight.
Thanks

I had a similar thing happen while doing Incline Bench on a Smithmachine where, obviously, I was not in the proper plane and had a shoulder injury. I had it checked out by an orthopod and was told I could do one of to thing.
1. Surgery (Thanks but no thanks)
2. I could do front shoulder raises in a different way that would strengthen my shoulder muscles to compensate for the shoulder fluxuation.
Instead of bringing the weight directly up and down as normal, I was told to use this technique. As you bring the weight up, Bring it up across your body, ie. if your using your right hand, the weight should end up in front of your left shoulder. Then as you get to the top of the motion, twist your wrist so your pinkie is toward the ceiling, and repeat.
I tell you this sound crazy but it works for me. I was unable to workout for several months due to the injury but as I strengthened the shoulder in this manor, I can basically do whatever workout I want. It was a real find for me.
Hope this is useful to you. Good to have you on board.

I would get it checked out. If it's not painful, well that's a good sign. Even if the Doc says you'll need surgery, it's up to you whether to go through with it or not. GOod luck!
Never hurts to ask a Doctor.
Oh yeah... Welcome to IM![]()
Thanks for the information. I will get it checked out and, in the mean time, I'll also try the different shoulder raises technique (thanks ragingbull).
