I've only in the recent years tuned my diet and now focus mostly on manipulating that when it comes to bulking or cutting.

Cardio is constant on my non lifting days year round for the health benefits.
I switch up between biking, running, swimming, and hiking when I can on the weekends.

No cardio while bulking, the workouts should be intense enough to raise that heart rate to a good level and unless you're getting too "bulky"... "fat"... you probably shouldn't be doing cardio when your goal is to gain weight. Experiment though, everyone's body is different.
