    Question New, need some help

Well this is the year I get serious about working out....

    Weight: 173
    Height: 5 '10
    BF%: 22

    I usually workout 4 days a week.

    My question is:
I want to put on mucle but I currently have a high BF%. Should I do a cutting cycle first or would a bulking cycle first be OK?

Glad to hear you are getting serious! Well, first of all, you say you usually work out 4 days a week. The 'usually" part tells me you kinda go when you fell like it. I'm not giving you a hard time by the way, just being honest. You need to post your diet and your workout routine so it can be critiqued. It is important for you to do that so everyone on the board can give you the proper advice you need. State your age also, because that too is important. At 5'10" 173 pounds 22% bf, you need to tune in on your diet first and foremost. Most physiques are made in the kitchen, through proper nutrition. The other 4 to 5 days in the gym and how properly you train will decide the rest.

Yeah, TNO is right, it is all about the diet. Usaully, I find this true for most people, if they just change they way they eat and shift to a cleaner diet they start to lean out almost automatically. Once they start making proper food choice and everything stabalizes it is much easier for them to set goals and find out which direction they want to go in (ie cutting or bulking).

I would really concentrate on eating good protein foods. Eggs, chicken, Tuna, lean red meats and stick to veggies for carbs. Sweet potato, brown rice, green salads, apples. If you work out hard and stick to a good diet and watch the sugar you eat, you will notice a big difference in several months. Don't go drastic either way in cutting or bulking....

Thanks for the advice guys. By the way the "usually' means 4 times a week and sometimes once on the weekend. I try to never miss a day. In the last two months I have put on 10 pounds. Some being unwanted fat.

I am actually going to follow the workout posted by GOPRO. I usually don't follow what other people do but I am looking for a change. It also seems like it has some good potential.

    Age:29
Diet: Needs alot of work. This is the area I need the most work in. I give 110% in the guy but have not been as successful in the kitchen.

    Thanks again guys.
