    Swimmers Workout

I have a buddy who's getting back into swimming and competing at an amature level. He wants to lift 3x a week to help get faster and wanted to know what he should be doing.

As his races are all sprint related I said he should look at doing explosive based lifts / excercises. Any idea what he should be doing and a what rep range / weight % of his 1RM?

    Thanks
I love lifting so much that i wanna take it behind the school building and get it pregnant!

I swim 6 days a week and I say any gains he is going to see are from the pool workouts. I added 40 min of treading water to my work out plus 2 x 500yd kick boards as fast as possible. My 50 times dropped from 23.2 to 22.6 Light leg and some shoulder exercises will help out a little as well but don't do too much or you will decrease your free rotation in the stroke.

I think that back and leg exercises is what he should concentrate on. For legs extensions and leg curls instead of squats. For back pull downs
