    Stationary Bike For Cardio?

I've found out of everything, this works best for me due to a few reasons. Now, is this an effective machine to use? I never did cardio until recently so cardio and cutting weight is all new to me, it's working but its new. I really want to get to that 9-10% BF. I've been riding every time I go the gym mostly, unless i'm dead tired or have to be somewhere. I do it a least 3 times a week, and have been increasing the time. I'm around 30 minutes now, only problem is I cramp up after (2-3 minutes after stopping) but it's gotten better.

Personally, I can't stand indoor cardio.

It's absolutely an effective machine. I watch the news on mine. If it's tabata day... I watch nothing...I'm gasping, panting, and sometimes...vomiting.

I found the stationary bike an excellent adjunct to my cardio.I use it almost daily at the gym.Varying intensities and times helps the boredom factor too.

HIIT on a stationary bike is great if your machine supports it...

Most likely electrolyte depletion - are you drinking enough water? Or also try a PWO protein + glutamine drink.

Water as Sassy said, plus make sure you're getitng enough potassium, calcium and magnesium (not to mention sodium, but it's usually not a problem).

Also, I favor a rowing machine for my cardio. It works a lot more muscle groups, isn't unbalanced regarding legs/upper/core, and a slow pace with hard pulls is closer to a long strength workout than steady-state cardio.

Plus if you lean back just a little too much (like 30 degrees), you'll wind up with absolutely fantastic abs in a few weeks.

I knew about the electrolyte, I should drink a powerade while i'm riding I'm just curious what else. Drinking enough water is for sure, I usually drink about a 3/4-1 gallon of water, depending on the workout.

Does anyone know if they make a powerade type powder thats in individual packs? Then I could bring one with me to the gym and put it into my bottle before I ride.

personal i prefer real cycling over the stationary bike. but for your cramping issue after you do your 30 min take a 2 min cool down session on the bike reduce your speed loosen your muscle. just like track runners when they finsish there race they cant stop right away or else theyll pull their hams

Rollers are the way to go. Indoor cycling is great cardio, but rollers keep the balance factor in the equation, unlike stationary bikes. You ride your bike on top of the rollers, and you still have to balance the bike. Closest to the real deal outdoors.

In the long run the bike is likely more versatile than a treadmill. And it takes up less space. Enjoy.
