    Overtraining to sickness?

Would like to know if you can get sick from overtraining? I was working out my triceps and chest on Wednesday really hard to the point that I was really sore for a few days. On Friday I felt sick and could not workout. I decided to workout on Saturday but was not feeling 100%. Could I got sick because of my overtraining on Wednesday?

How long have you been training??

By the way lived I used to live in Lawrenceville many moons ago. I think the neighborhood was Lancelot on King Arthur Dr. Is the Peach Tree Salvage Store still there??

I know If i train hard any heavy and do a couple sessions of cardio in the same day, I will sometimes feel like how you described...

One day isn't over-training. Over-training takes a long time to really be felt.

Now, if you had said you were doing full body German volume training every day for the last month... ok, I'd say you might be over-trained.

You can't overtrain in one day. However every intense session decreases your immune system until you recover. This means you can get sick more easy after a hard workout and that's why you don't workout when you feel you are starting to get sick.

Just like somebody else said, your immune system is lowered so you could have caught something...

overtraining is really hard to physically do.. it's been pushed so much by big figures in bb'ing that so many are scared they might hit it when it is so far out of reach.. you will hit neural adaption before you hit overtraining and that is what makes you feel like shit.. see link in my sig

Regardless, yes you can work yourself sick. It may not be overtraining or whatever, but yes you certainly can. You're either going forward, backward, or standing still. Shit.

Overtraining is when your CNS is so shot the fuck out that you try to train and end up sitting in the corner crying because nothing works right anymore.

CNS fatigue is a joke.. still preached overly so by people.. it is entirely in your head.. you begin adapting faster than we think and the body lies.. it wants to maintain an equilibrium rather than keep pushing.. when you push past the point of what you think is "overtraining" you will see that your body was lying to you in order to get the stress to stop.

Why don't you preach that to my husband's wheelchair or his canes...Your post sir, is a pile of total BULLSHIT...Maybe you should research more in depth before posting such nonsense...

    http://athleticperformancerevolution...ring-exercise/

^^^ CNS fatigue...Is also called neuromuscular fatigue...Its a subjective state in which one feels tired or exhausted and in which the capacity for normal work or activity is reduced...Muscle fatigue, the decline in voluntary force during sustained maximal efforts, is caused by both central and peripheral mechanisms...It is widely known that much of the fatigue arises from processes occurring within the muscle such as disturbances in the excitation-contraction coupling, depletion of muscle glycogen and accumulation of metabolites...It is believed that fatigue onsets at some point during the chain of events between the CNS and the stimulation of the muscle fiber...

I can only go into so much detail because I only know the surface of the CNS debate...My husband has MS and he suffers with this each and every single day...I am quite sure he will jump on here and back this up and then some...

My friend I lived it during a competition prep I did in 2000. Also isn't it the primary driver for periodization?
