? About Squats - No Rack

Basically my gym has no squat rack which sucks so I load up a barbell swing it up and perform front squats. I've started fairly light 3 sets of 95 lbs for 8 reps , and figure I'll be doing 105 for 8 reps next leg day. I weigh approx. 135lbs at 5'8.5". Does this seem like im doing a decent weight for frontal squats for my weight? Any insight too my question or how I'm forced to squat would be appreciated thanks.

What is a decent amount of weight? It's completely relative. What might be heavy for you might be light to me, so I think that question is kind of irrelevant.

Unfortuanately no matter how much you can squat it's going to be limited to how much you can lift off the floor and up to your chest.

You could also do dumbbell lunges, which can be very effective.

I do not know if this is an option for you, but you could invest in an inexpensive rack and some weights, see links:

A rack and a barbell set would cost you about $300 and would not take up much room.

When I was forced to use that method, I did regular old squats, but never went past 225. Throw your weight on the bar, do a clean and press, and put it behind the back, my shoulders hate it.

With the amount of weight you're using you're probably not going to see that great of results. I'd highly recommend going weighted lunges instead. You can also use dumbbells instead of having to hoist the bar up over your head.

Eventually though, if you have any serious aspirations you're going to have to find a gym with a squat rack.

I am going to have to disagree with that statment.
Everyone needs to start somewhere. If you are doing 95lbs and failing at 8 reps then you are most definetly going to see results. You are pushing your muslces as much as you can.
When I was younger and first started training I lifted in my basement. I didn't have much weights (not a problem since I couldn't lift much weight anyway. lol) but I when I did legs I would do what mudge said (clean and press whatever and go from there). Even if the weight was light I still made sure I did as many reps as I could, even if that ment 25 or 30 reps. I still saw great results.
