The health club I go to (just opened, www.lifetimefitness.com) has one of, if not the largest indoor rock climbing facilities in the US. And tonight, I tried climbing for the first time, and I think I am in love.

I took a short class, then climbed for another 2 hours or so. My hand hurt, I'm missing skin, but it was great.

Does anyone else here climb?

Thumbs up

Rock climbing is becoming very popular and it's an excellent totally body workout! In fact, out of all the exercises there are for the forearms, I think rock climbing is the best.

I live near Great Falls park in VA/MD... its VA on one side of the Patomac River and MD on the other.. well I never have done one of those indoor things but used to go out there with my buds and climb all day.... We alsomost lost a couple people out there... no ropes.. nothing just rock straight down 10-20-30---50 feet.... Crazy stuff.... but such a rush......

there are a few real good indoor walls near my hometown and i stick to those. its a great workout and its a lot safer. i use to do a lot of flat face, until two of my high school friends fell 75+ feet near harpers fairy. kind of makes ya think. now i stay indoors for the most part. but i still enjoy it.

Injuries...

Some of the best climbers say; "Make sure you climb hard, but climb so can climb again some day."

Outdoors, no ropes, you need to have you head on.

I'm now officially addicted to climbing. It's such a good workout. And much more exciting at that!

You can also sub normal cardio (running, stairs, etc) with climbing. If you have auto-belay systems, you can just do run after run for about a half hour. DAMN!! The body aches, but you feel ripped.

I think I'm going back again tonight...
