Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: A desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.

Well start with a good stretch, long and powerful strides will increase your speed. But I’m sure you know that.

In the summer training what we usually do in football is a routine that looks like this 2 days a week

Starting at a 3 point stance

    50 yards x 2
    40 yards x 4
    30 yards x 6
    20 yards x 8
    10 yards x 10

And your done. It really worked for me last year my time on the 40 was 4.9 my new time this year is 4.7. Remember work on those long powerful stride, short little steps are going to get you no were.

so that would be like you run a 50 yard sprint, stop for a second, reform your stance, and then run another? and then so on? how long did it take you to drop that much time off your 40? my hamstrings are to tight naturally, my dad gets back problems from the same thing, so ill have to work on it.

About 4-5 months ago my 40 was a 4.9, and about a month ago was when I got my new 40 speed. But that routine when only followed for the 2 months of summer vacation. Yeah sprint all the way thru, and we take a 30 sec brake between them.

I used to do alot of uphill sprints and also steep downhill sprints. the steep downhill sprints forced your legs to move faster and easier. your body retains that muscle memory movement as quickly as a week. You will notice a time change in a week or less guarenteed.
