    Ouch!

ok i was doing squats tonight and i wasnt doing a lot of weight, just a medium weight (155, im not that big and havent been doing legs as long as my upper body), and i went down, and at the bottom i felt a really sharp pain in my very lower abdomen, about 1" above my di** and a little on the left side of center. i thought it was my pants bunching up so i went back up and put the bar back up. i readjusted my pants, and tried again. again, the same pain. so i stopped and let my partner do his set. then i tried one last time, did two, then on the third, it just hurt like a mother f*cker. it felt like someone was taking a ballpoint pen and just jamming it in my skin. so we went onto shrugs and i was fine doing that, even doing 225. finished up there and went to leg extensions, but i felt it again and had to stop. for the rest of the night i managed to do fine with the arnold press and my other shoulder excercises but stayed away from the leg excercises. any idea what happened? my dad recently had a triple hernia so im kinda freaked that i might have one, but also i might have just pulled a muscle. can anyone help me out? what do you think?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a hernia doesn't necessarily have to be inguinal (intestine descends into the testicular region) or umbilical..right? For example, I saw a show where a woman went in for lypo., and the doctor discovered a small perf/tear in her diaphragm/lower abdomen. (just south-southeast of her belly button, about an inch above her pubic "delta")
Also, isn't it possible to strain or tear one of the lower abdominal muscles if one has not conditioned them prior to doing high impact excercises such as squats, or similar lifting movements? I've experienced similar pain, more of a sharp, cramping sensation in the area just below my belt-line and off to one side (I joke with my wife about having blown out one of my ovaries....don't laugh) but just assumed that it was a funky muscle pull.
I must agree with Prince, though. You'd be better off checking it out early, even if it is a false alarm.

I use to get that once in a while back when I started squats, I use to wear a belt when the weight started to get heavy and the pain never got worse. Over time, I stooped having the problem, I would keep an eye on it and see a doctor if it does get worse.
    Cool
