Question 48 hours long enough to rest a muscle?

Right now I'm doing around 15 reps of each exercise to build up my endurance......according to my trainer. He says my muscle needs 48 hours to repair itself before working out again. Now I'm not going for mass right now so is this long enough?

If your not going for mass, but strength then you need even LONGER if your pushing yourself. There are powerlifters who will not do the same bodypart without more than 8 days rest at a time.

If your just training for a marathon, then train about as often as your heart is happy with, although marathoners have heart problems thanks to an enlarged left ventricle.

I've only known one person in high school who ripped a muscle, but still, I'd avoid such short recoup times if your strength training.
