Went to do some heavy barbell shrugs and busted out the straps...
One strap kept getting bundled up...
Then the meme guy pic popped in my head saying "y u such a pain to roll up"...
I had to make it and post it...

I have a design for "straps" that aren't straps. Basically just a wide pad that is just long enough form a "U" around the bar. To me, straps aren't about transferring weight directly to your wrist, they're just for stopping the bar from 'rolling' out of your fingers. Kinda like a really wide (like palm width) stiff canvas hook. I just cant find a material that will hold a curve to make the pad/strap easier to wrap under the bar.

If Vince started selling weightlifting accessories, I'd have to add another post to the 'biggest pet peeve' thread :-) Being I'm in Poland, I'd probably have to get Pudzianowski to endorse 'em.
It's all in how you wrap them. I've thought about doing a quick instructional video on how to do it properly since every now and then these issues pop up. Actually, here is a decent vid of it. Everyone should wrap like this guy. To cinch it up, just roll the bar into the strap, then regrip.

That video sucks, cork. I thought he was going to show a trick to make it easy to wrap the second strap on the bar after your first hand was wrapped in. Nope, he only wrapped one hand with the other, never had both on the bar.
In theory it doesn't matter if the strap is wrapped around once, three times, or 3/4 of one turn. It's just a pulley system that takes a part of the load off your fingers and transfers it to your wrist, while at the same time fighting the tendency of the bar to roll out of your fingers.
Personally, when I deadlift I now only use a strap on ONE hand. Like a mixed grip, it stops the bar from rolling out of your hand. Deads with a double overhand grip just seem so much more natural (form-wise) to me. The weight I use for deads hasn't yet exceeded my grip strength, so no need to use two straps.... yet.

I just bite it to hold it then use my fingers to roll it around the bar. Yeah it's prob disgusting cuz I did this even when I went to a gym but the way I figure it I stick my tongue in a girls pussy or ass and nothings happened to me.

Straps tend to get better with age, the more worn in the better. When I first got mine they gave me headaches, now three years later work like a charm..
To speak before you think is like wiping your ass before you shit!

I use straps when I play very heavy deadlift. It allows me to lift many times. The muscle after exercise than it used to be full.
