All H.I.T is low reps high sets.Nothing special you will get stronger and still get the growth.I like high volume better myself.Less strain on the joints and i fill as it recruit more muscle fibers and its time under tension as it will create more muscle growth.
Everything has its purpose.i do less sets and less reps with more weight with H.I.T

I tried the dorian yates HIT style about a year ago and I did see some decent results. Like you I am also a hardgainer, I have a very fast metabolism. But I did see some good strength and muscle gain while doing HIT, a buddy of mine incorporated volume and HIT somewhat together like he will do HIT for the first couple sets and then go to lower weight and do more volume and it seems to be working for him.

Mentzer was genius. I had great success on the HIT, I literally read every available book of mentzers before hand. Im interested in the how and why's before I actually do the programs. Needless to say I gained major lbs in 5-6 months. I switched it up month to month with some of yates ideas too. But I was natural and 200lbs starting and ended up 215-220 area being accused of juicing when I was aas and prohormone free at the time! I'm about to give it ago again sitting at 250 now ...

Read, reasearch and learn it before you do it.

    Regards

"Hit" as everyone calls it...has nothing to do with mike mentzers heavy duty...they are worlds apart

dorian does not do hit either...he does a form of training we should all call "blood and guts"...it is nothing like hit training

true hit training(as invented by arthur jones) is circuit training with maximimum poundage, slow negatives, static holds...little to no rest between sets

HIT is just one way to skin a cat. Personally i actually like being in the gym so would rather go more often than once every seven years.

I did a Mentzer program some years ago and i got better at using tempo, somewhat more muscular, and stronger (when on a HIT program). My explosive power for 1RM strength and the like took a huge fucking nose dive.

It was alright though, i quite liked the fact it was way different than other bodybuilding regimens. Even though Mike was insane and a cokehead i respect the guy for putting a middle finger up to Weider and doing his own stuff. At least he could back up his training philosophy with a little more than supplement and magazine sales. He certainly put more thought put into his methods than most 5-day-splitters.

Also, don't believe all that hardgainer crap. There is 100% no such thing. How the hell can you even measure your metabolism? So called hardgainers are generally just under-eaters or people who don't know what the hell they're doing in the gym.

    Man i'm cranky thismorning.

Lower volume, failure training has its place every so often and I think Gaz is right on the money, as I have had similar experiences. Alot of people have no idea of periodization and loading over extended periods. They try an outrageous high volume regimen, get burned out, and then switch to a HIT routine. They make great gains in the short term because they elicited delayed training effects from the prior work and realized them under a decrease in volume. The point is, everything works to some degree, but it won't work all the time.

I don't see how any of it has helped you, but anyway.

Variety is always the key for hardgainers or anybody.

One regimen alone and repeatedly will not get it done.
