    Losing weight...it's a funny thing

I've been watching my calorie intake throughout February and I have managed to lose 11 pounds (keep in mind I do not have all that much to lose). I expected certain things, such as my pants being looser and having to move the belt up a hole or two, but there were a couple of other things I did not expect. For one, my wedding ring is actually looser now. It just kind of shifts around on my finger and almost feels like it's going to fall off. Also, my watch is loose (I usually wear it snug). I've already got it on the last hole, now it bangs around on my wrist. Funny stuff.

This is the first time I've ever really tried to drop pounds (I'm 30). I weighed in at 174 this morning. I was 185 at the start of the month.

I've got one hole left. If everything goes according to plan, I'll have to punch a new hole by the end of March.

get a smaller belt. it is a lot easier plus if you maintain the weight loss you will be ok, but if you put weight back on you will not want to see holes you made in your old belt.

what are you trying to get down to? me myself my cut starts in march, i'm currently at 222lbs and want to get down to about 195-200lb by june at about 8-10%bf

Definitely not a contest. I'm just a guy who works out. There are a few reasons....

-I just want to look better and I want to fit into my old clothes
-As an avid mountain biker, it'd be nice to have 10-15 less pounds to carry (it'll make a huge difference in my riding)
-I am going on a cruise in October and I want to look my best

Yanks, I want to see 165. That is being very ambitious, but getting to 174 was easier than I thought. Another 10 pounds will be tough. I don't know what my bf% is, but the wife is buying some calipers to measure us. To myself, it's amazing how much more defined I look since dropping 10 pounds. I have abs!!

No loss in strength yet. I have managed to gain a little strength, actually, especially in the legs.

IAB, 11 pounds in 3 weeks is quite a bit especially if you do not have much to lose, at that rate you could (most likely) be sacrificing LBM.

Prince, the 185 I started at on Feb 1 was the heaviest I had been in my life. I "normally" weigh around 180, so to me it's more of a six pound weight loss.

I am in no hurry to shed pounds (shedding gradually is fine by me), so maybe I should up the calorie intake? I am keeping it around 2100-2200 right now. (5'11")

    Good to hear Baboon
I to have started a low carb diet, mostly due to that article W8 had posted about insulin, I'm still getting lots of Cals but more from fat and protein now. I don't know if I've lost much weight cause I'm scared of scales.
    Cool

When losing weight, you want to keep it to 1-2 lb/per week. Any more than that is either one of two things............water weight or muscle. IAB, try getting another 500-700 calories a day.....maybe a chicken breast and some broccoli or oatmeal. I think that would help maintain your muscle while still being able to burn a little fat. Also, don't forget flax oil or some type of good fat. That will also help to rev up your metabolism. My .02~

I've read that you always lose a lot the first couple of weeks. It's definitely slowed because I've lost a half pound since Monday.

Another unexpected observation....my face looks bonier.
