    Post Why even bother?

Ok i was at the Gym yesterday to do legs. The weight room has some nice leg machines along with a few racks. Well there is this one machine that Cybex makes that is like a squat, only you are laying down. Very smooth motion. I like it because it puts very little stress on my knees.

Anyway this guy was in there using that maching. He had no less than 8 plates (45lb)on each side of the machine. so this guy goes to do a set, does all this dramatic stuff to psych himself up then proceeds to move the weight all of maybe six inches from start to finish. does a set of ten then jumps off and does what appears to be a squat of some sorts using a 80lb DB. He held it between his legs and just squatted till it hit the floor. Which was again maybe a little more than six inches.

What is the point of these people? Why do they do this. I never can understand wanting to move a ton of weight, but only doing a half assed approach to it. Sure the guy could move a lot of weight a short distance, but his legs were tiny as hell.

they think it looks impressive to have that much weight on and then look down on other people using less weight but doing the exercise correctly. Best to just laugh at them lol. Theyre more likely to injure themselves and also will never build a good physique.

I stacked the same machine with over 900 lbs (this was around midnight), and just moved it about that same amount. Grunting and groaning as loud as I could. (my bro and I were there, along with a few other guys).

I did just for the hell of it. Didn't do it for a workout though. I'm smarter than to look like that much of a dumbass.
