Sore lower back...

I just started a job that has me standing for about 6 hours. After a couple hours of this, my lower back is extremely sore. I don't slouch, and ive tried all sorts of different ways to stand, but it doesnt seem to help.

Any ideas on what i can do to prevent this?

you will get used to it, your back just needs to adapt, once the slow-twitch muscle fibers in your spinal-erectors 'build up' you will be fine.

I work retail, I'm on my feet for 9 hours a day,on a cement floor, even for lunch, you will get use to it and a shoe with good support will help.

Cool

I agree. For many years I did commercial woodworking, which involves a lot of "benchwork". (usually standing on a concrete floor, leaning over slightly...killer on the back) I've found that one of the best investments you will ever make is in quality shoes....in terms of lower back strain, etc. It is sort of a "pay now, or pay later" scenario.

I'm a fitter machinist by trade and wearin top quality boots always made a difference. Also when i was standing at a lathe all day standing on a good rubber mat helps too.
