In my opinion and I do a lot of dips they work the triceps more than shoulders so i'd use them with your tricep workout.I have also used them with my chest workout.![]()
What are some thoughts on dips? I want to incorporate them into either my shoulder or tricep workout, which would they be most beneficial for?

French press(aka skull crushers),cable pull downs and dumbell kickouts is one example but I vary it.I do chest and tri's the same day and if I do dips that day I do them at the end of my chest routine. It serves as a finisher for chest and a starter for Tri's
Two options for dips...first is to lean forward to emphasize the chest and the second is to remain upright to emphasize the triceps.
Searching for the right balance...
I use dips for chest.

..in addition to that, wouldn't you want to keep your elbows in close to your body for triceps and elbows flexed out for chest?Originally posted by Fit Freak

I incorporate dips into my workout for both chest and triceps..

When doing dips for chest, you should bring your body down in a 1/4 circular motion rather than straight up and down, this will help to keep the tri's out if the movement.

I use dips for chest.
(triceps and shoulders are worked indirectly)
Forgot to mention that but you are correct...flare the elbows out for chest and keep them tight to the sides for tris.

so would dips actually be beneficial for a triceps workout?
