Thumbs up Yet MORE new equipment in my gym

So I walk into the gym this morning to do legs, and to my surprise there is a TON of new equipment there. They added all this stuff:

Four new Smith machines
Some kind of funky squat/hack squat plate loaded machine
A donkey calf raise machine (I used that today)
Two new ab machines (I still prefer ball crunches)
Urpight row machine

They also replaced the Hammer Strength lat pulldown machine. The one they had was a plate loaded machine, and they replaced it with a similar Hammer Strength machine that uses a pin. I'm kind of bummed about that because I liked the plate loaded machine, but I'll try the new one. They also added a 2nd Hammer Strength lat pulldown machine that utilizes a different grip/angle.

On top of that, they are replacing all the rubber matting on the floors. They have new rolls of it piled everywhere.

It's awesome to see them putting money back into the place.

So, do you know what your max (8 reps) for DB bench is or is that going to be a mystery due to the fact that your gym does not supply DB's that heavy?

A few brands: Icarian, Hammer Strength, Life Fitness (the Smith machines are Life Fitness).

More new stuff as of yesterday: They've added new dumbells. I can't remember what brand they are, but they got rid of the old ones and put new ones in, along with new EZ curl bars (with the weight already on them). There is also a new tricep extrension machine, and a new bicep curl machine.

I feel like a newbie looking at the new equipment, trying to figure out how to use it.

another gym that i went to had to last week had 150's and i got 4 un-spotted reps which i was very happy with being that it was my Power week. mentally if i know that we have them there, that makes me train all the more harder to use them. i may be getting older but I am not dead yet

Hey IAB, if you don't mind me asking, what do you pay per month for your membership?

I think we pay something like $80 per month, but that is for me and the wife. It includes unlimited Spinning classes (they usually cost $5 per class). I love my gym.

you lucky fuq, we just got a new Nautilus XP leg press. I was the first to use it. In fact, I was loading it up as they were putting it together. I was able to put 920lbs on it and still get 2X10. This thing is smooth! Of course though, I couldn't walk the next day.

well, i dont mean to sound mean but our center is ran by board members who dont even work out, so they have no clue to what a club/gym should have for equipment.its just fustrating at times................rant over.

Don't come to High Point, Tank. They just built a new fitness center at the Y and it's filled to the brim with Hammer Strength equipment and Ivanko weights. Nice place except for the kids.
